From Québec, Canada, Chanelle Dupuis, is an FSU senior, studying French and Spanish. Dupuis is a polyglot, speaking five languages including French, Spanish Portuguese, German, and English. This enthusiasm for cultures and languages has heavily influenced her time here at FSU and her plans for the future. Dupuis expresses, “My education at Florida State University has changed my perception of the world. I have learned Spanish, Portuguese, and German in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at FSU and this journey has helped me learn about the culture of different areas of the world and connect with various student groups”. This passion is even translated into her extracurriculars on campus as she spearheads the French Club, La Table Francaise, as their current president. Reflecting on her leadership position, Dupuis says, “It has been a joy for me to share information about the French and Francophone world to my FSU community”.

While busy learning about the world, Dupuis has also been a devoted Phi Eta Sigma member. About her involvement in PES, Dupuis says, “Joining Phi Eta Sigma my freshman year was an amazing opportunity. I learned so much about FSU and using all of the resources available to me at FSU through Phi Eta Sigma. I attended various meetings and activities and did community service with the society”. Her dedication to the organization has allowed Phi Eta Sigma to make an impact on not only her life but on our community as she says, “I enjoyed meeting new people through Phi Eta Sigma and was able to grow my network”.

As an outgoing senior, Dupuis will graduate with many accomplishments to her name. She asserts her greatest accomplishment to date “has been completing my Honors Undergraduate Thesis. This was a monumental work for me, and I feel really lucky to have gotten the chance to do this during my undergraduate career”. In continuing her fascination for linguistics and culture, Dupuis’ plans for her future are “to complete a PhD in French with the hopes of becoming a French Professor”.
