Meet Tina

Tina graduated from the University of Delaware in May 2018 with an Honors Degree in Interpersonal Communications and Italian Studies.

During her undergrad, Tina was a member of the Blue Hen Leadership Program, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, and also founded Habitat for Humanity. She earned two “Excellence in Italian Studies” awards and the “Blue Hen Leadership Program Senior Leader” award for 4 years of exemplary leadership.

“I was a Distinguished Scholar at the University of Delaware, which is similar to our Presidential Scholars at FSU.”

Tina will be attending Florida State for two years earning her Master’s degree. She is currently the graduate assistant for the Honors Program at Florida State University, and is studying to work in student affairs when she graduates.

“I chose FSU because I felt that it was the program that could best prepare me to be an excellent professional,” Tina said. “I have a lot of opportunity here to learn about the different parts of a university and get to put my learning into practice with my assistantship, and internships next year.”

As the co-advisor for Phi Eta Sigma, Tina advises students and makes sure everything is running smoothly. She is present for E-board and committee meetings and is always open to new ideas for upcoming events.  

“I love to learn from our students and staff” she proudly expressed.

Tina, a native of Commack, NY, was only three hours away by car from her hometown during her undergrad, but now she is 17 hours away. This has been a challenge for her because having to fly every time she wants to visit her family and friends is different.

Although experiencing long distance from her home has been a challenge, she is surprised to have made friends so quickly at Florida State.

“I’m really lucky to have a support system here that can help me work through the challenges of being a master’s student, and can make me feel comfortable and cared for even though I’m far from home.”

Phi Eta Sigma is thankful to have such a hard working graduate student represent the honor society as the co-advisor.
